COAST GUARD MEMES: HUMOR IN MILITARY SERVICE

Being an active duty servicemember is a tough line of work, and stress can easily weasel its way into your life due to the requirements asked of servicemembers. But our military personnel are still people, and like anyone else, they need a good laugh from time to time.
Sometimes the best way to get through your workday is to make light of the work itself. After all, there’s no need to take yourself seriously all the time.
Take a load off and tickle your funny bone with these Coast Guard memes.
Top 9 Coast Guard Memes: Humor in Service
Being in the Coast Guard is an important role within the military, but that doesn’t mean it can’t have some moments of humor. VeteranLife scouted and found some funny memes courtesy of these Coast Guard-themed meme accounts.
1. We Are a Branch of the Military

Everyone knows the usual routine of how the branches like to make jabs at one another, but the Coast Guard tends to get the short end of the stick.
The reason is mostly due to the Coast Guard not being involved in combat like other branches, which, in turn, unfairly earns them the “Girl Scout” label.
However, you can choose to be bothered by it or take it in stride. After all, you’re not the one who’s likely to get deployed across the world and forced into active combat.
It doesn’t seem like such a problem to be a member of the Coast Guard in comparison.
2. When the Air Force Tries to Coast Guard

The Air Force and Coast Guard couldn’t be any more different if they tried. One is trained for air warfare and air defense, as well as the development of military space research.
The other is responsible for patrolling the waters of the United States' borders to ensure that no illegal activity or enemies of the country make it through, as well as conducting rescues in open water.
Out of all the branches, the Coast Guard and the Air Force seem to be the most distinctive from one another. It’s not hard to imagine how comical it would be to see an Air Force member attempt to get their sea legs.
3. The Left Out Sibling In Need of Attention

Founded in 2019, the Space Force is the new baby of the military family. Given the U.S. government’s fascination with space over the last few decades, it comes as no surprise that the Space Force would be the one to receive the most attention.
Don’t worry, though, the Marines, Navy, and Air Force are feelin’ it too. You know what they say: “Misery loves company.”
4. Flushing Out Toxicity in the Workplace

A healthy work environment is essential in any job, especially in the military.
Toxicity in the workplace never seems to come from the lower ranks and rise up, but rather trickles down from the higher-ups and onto those who can’t do anything about it.
Unfortunately, it’s a universal thing, and there’s not much you can do about it on the bottom end but just keep your head down and do your thing. But hey, look on the bright side - free cookouts are pretty fun!
5. The Worst Day of Your Life, So Far

Rolling through the gates at Cape May isn’t exactly a red-carpet moment.
Walking through those gates feels less like an introduction and more like being dropped straight into a reality check you never expected.
That first day sets the tone, and your “babysitter” (aka Company Commander) is more than ready to make it memorable.
Spoiler: it won’t be in the way you hoped.
6. When You Forget Your ID

No matter how many times the gate guard has seen your face, the second you forget your ID, it’s like you’ve been erased from existence.
You could wave, smile, and remind them you’ve chatted every day for months, but without that card, you’re just another stranger.
It’s a Thanos-level “I don’t even know who you are.”
7. The “Boat or Ship” Debate

Nothing gets a Coastie more riled up than someone outside the service calling a cutter a “boat.”
To civilians, it might not matter, but inside the Coast Guard, the distinction is very real — and very serious.
Let’s just say if you mix them up around a salty Veteran, you might end up getting a 20-minute lecture on naval terminology.
8. Hurry Up and Wait (Coast Guard Edition)

Every branch of the military has the infamous “hurry up and wait” moments, and the Coast Guard is no exception.
Whether it’s standing by for hours in the rain before boarding or waiting for a supply drop that was supposed to arrive yesterday, the meme-worthy frustration is universal.
The difference? At least Coasties usually get a nice view of the ocean while waiting.
9. The Eternal Battle With Coffee

If there’s one thing that fuels the Coast Guard more than anything else, it’s coffee.
Early morning musters, long watches, and late-night SAR (search and rescue) missions all run on caffeine. Forget your coffee, and suddenly even the calmest Coastie turns into a drill instructor.
Some would argue that the real lifeblood of the Coast Guard isn’t salt water — it’s espresso.
