About VeteranLife
Our Mission
"Helping veterans and their families navigate the transition to civilian life with the benefits, resources, and support they've earned."
Our Story
VeteranLife was created to serve those who served — providing veterans with trusted information on benefits, employment, education, healthcare, and the unique challenges of transitioning to civilian life. Our content is created by veterans, for veterans.
VeteranLife is part of the Military Brands network, which traces its origins to 1966 with MyBaseGuide. For nearly 60 years, this network has been the trusted resource for military families navigating the challenges of military life — and life after service.
Today, the Military Brands network includes three trusted publications:
- MyBaseGuide — Comprehensive guides for 250+ military installations since 1966
- VeteranLife — Resources for those transitioning to civilian life
- MilSpouses — Dedicated support for military partners
Together, we reach over 36 million military family members annually, providing trusted information on VA benefits, career transitions, healthcare, and veteran resources.
Ownership & Funding
VeteranLife is owned and operated by Military Brands, an independent media company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.
In 2025, Military Brands transitioned to independent ownership through a management buyout, allowing the team to raise the bar on editorial standards and honor the trust our audience places in us. This transition enables us to serve the veteran community with integrity, depth, and authenticity — prioritizing your needs over everything else.
Our operations are funded through advertising partnerships with businesses that serve veterans and military families. Editorial content is produced independently and is not influenced by advertisers.
Editorial Standards
Our team includes veterans and military family members who understand the unique challenges of military transition firsthand. We are committed to:
- Accurate, timely information from official VA, DoD, and government sources
- Clear distinction between editorial content and sponsored content
- Prompt corrections when errors are identified
- Diverse perspectives representing all branches, eras, and veteran experiences
- Veteran-created content that speaks to real challenges and solutions
