Nothing quite says, “I love America,” like showing love to the people who serve the country. The VA Veteran of the Day is a great way to put the spotlight on those who deserve it the most.

VA Veteran of the Day Aims To Honor Our Nation’s Heroes

How To Submit Your Hero for Veteran of the Day

VeteranLife article
  • We’re showcasing our Veterans here, so you’re going to need to submit some photos. Three to five original photos, with at least one in uniform, of your hero will do. You don’t need to be a professional photographer, but they should be of good quality and showcase your Veteran in a positive light. The photos should be in .jpeg format.
  • Avoid photos that might constitute an endorsement of a product. Remember, this is about the Veteran, not a brand.
  • Send your photos in an email accompanied with their name, branch, years of service, awards, etc.
  • If your hero has passed, you’ll also want to include this information, as well as the corresponding link to the Veteran Legacy Memorial page.

Disney Veteran of the Day

Did you know that the VA is not the only one spreading the love to our Veterans? Disney has a storied history of shining the limelight onto our nation’s heroes through various initiatives. There are celebrations throughout the year, including on Veterans Day, that show off the Pride of America, our Veterans. COVID-19 changed a lot of things. There were plenty of things we all saw as normal parts of life that were taken away and changed to help keep our fellow man safe as we navigated one of the weirdest times of our lives. It is with great joy that we can announce that despite losing their daily flag retreat at the peak of the pandemic, Disney has brought back its time-honored flag retreat ceremony. This celebration is a great way to showcase servicemen and women and aims to celebrate our heroes in a way that's similar to the Veteran of the Day trend online. Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort each celebrate both active military members as well as Veterans through this Veteran of the Day event. Alongside the parks’ respective security teams, Veterans and/or service members help honor America by lowering the American flag found on Main Street, U.S.A., accompanied by “God Bless America,” the “Star-Spangled Banner,” and the Pledge of Allegiance. It is a powerful show of patriotism and pride in the greatest country on the planet, as well as a great way to honor those who have served our country.
