There are wars either developing or taking place in multiple corners of the world, new emerging threats to American security, and concerns about our nation’s border. The United States needs leadership that can navigate these difficult subjects effectively, to maintain American interests, peace, and our economy. This is exactly why noted Green Beret combat Veteran and Congressman Michael “Mike” Waltz has been asked by soon-to-be President Trump to serve as our National Security Adviser.

Who Is Mike Waltz?

Trump has selected Rep. Mike Waltz, a Green Beret combat Veteran, currently representing Florida, as his National Security Adviser to lead the National Security Council (NSC).

There are several other figures that have been more involved with the Trump campaign; however, as a staunch ally of our nation’s 47th President, combined with his military and political experience, it’s not exactly a surprise he was asked to take on the role.

Previously, other advisers had issues with Trump, not always seeing eye-to-eye. This time should be different, as Waltz aligns with many of Trump’s policies and style.

Furthermore, Waltz visited the White House to help on issues of national security several times during Trump’s first presidency.

Unlike other roles, the Senate won’t have to confirm the position should Waltz accept, meaning policy changes could come sooner rather than later.

Rep. Michael Waltz is known for being a Republican; however, he’s also known to reach on both sides of the political aisle to find solutions.

European Policies

The ongoing conflict in Europe has gone on longer than expected and divided politicians even within the same party.

While Trump is looking to use his relationships for a quick fix, things aren’t that simple.

Waltz is expected to support less aid in Europe while pushing for the continent to take care of its issues a bit more independently—aligning with Trump, of course.

The Middle East

What has started between Hamas and Israel has spiraled into a multifaceted conflict involving Iran, Lebanon, and many other related actors.

As National Security Adviser, Mike Waltz will look to use his vast experience operating in the Middle East to find a solution.

Just like Trump, Waltz is believed to support Israel defeating Hamas and will look to apply pressure on Iran as Israel continues to defend itself.

The Mexico-U.S. Border

An increasing focus over the last few years has been on the use of the American military at the Mexico-U.S. border.

Mike Waltz is a supporter of increasing border security by using the American Armed Forces; however, there are some specific ways he looking to implement.

It’s believed that Waltz will look to use advanced tactics, including cyber warfare, against cartels.

This would not place American troops in Mexico but would more resemble efforts that previously succeeded in Colombia.

China and the Indo-Pacific

Waltz is a strong supporter of Trump’s ability to disrupt spaces as a positive thing, particularly, when it comes to maintaining national security.

As a focus for American security shifts more into the Indo-Pacific region, China is a major point of emphasis, where shifting America’s interests globally will be on center stage.

How his policies are applied remains to be seen; however, disrupting China’s reach in the area and having them back down from aggressions toward Taiwan are sure to be focal points.
