5 New Year’s Activities to Celebrate 2024

From glamorous parties to family-friendly traditions, there are several New Year’s activities available. We can’t cover all of them, but we do have some great ideas going on throughout prominent military communities in the United States. Here are a few alternatives to watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2024:

1. Solve a Murder Mystery at the American Legion Post 280 In Chesapeake, Virginia

Ringing in 2024 can go many ways, but why not add a little extra intrigue to the night? The American Legion Post 280 is having a potluck dinner where everyone is invited to bring their best dish. On top of it all, there is a murder mystery event where guests will need to solve the case throughout the night.

2. Applebee’s NYC Times Square New Year's Eve

Let’s face it, finding New Year’s Eve family activities isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but Applebee’s has an all-ages solution sure to keep the party going! Not only will you find dancing and food, but you and your loved ones can view the ball drop in a family-friendly environment. All in all, you get the best of both all under one roof.

3. Dress to the Nines at the 12th Annual NYE Casino Night In Arlington, VA

New Year’s Eve, a casino night, and Mardi Gras…Individually, these are all more than enough reasons to celebrate; however, the Hyatt Regency decided that you can experience all three in one night. Dress your best for a night of glamour and entertainment, including surprise celebrity guests all with a Mardi Gras theme. Activities for New Year’s Eve are a dime a dozen, but you won’t find anything quite like this to bring in 2024!

4. Fireworks on Top of Pike’s Peak

If you live in Colorado, or are visiting during New Year’s Eve, the 101st Annual Pikes Peak AdAmAn Club Fireworks Display is something you’ll want to consider. Heading up into the mountains can be beautiful enough; however, you’ll get an extra element of beauty from a fireworks display that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

5. Get a New Car at Sport Durst Subaru of Jacksonville, NC

From great deals to impressive selections, New Year activities for many involve buying a new vehicle. However, if you’re looking to purchase a new vehicle this year, and want to give back in the process, be sure to do so at Sport Durst Subaru of Jacksonville for the Share the Love event. Going on until January 2, 2024, the fine folks in Jacksonville, North Carolina are donating a portion of sales and leases. This not only includes the charity of your choice but also includes its Hometown Charity of Hope For The Warriors—a group known for supporting the military community.

Enjoy Your New Year’s Activities Responsibly

Ringing in 2024 can go from celebratory to tragic far too easily. It’s important to enjoy your celebrations responsibly. Here are a few reminders, with special mentions for the military community:

  • Driving under the influence is never ok. Be sure to have a designated driver, a cab or ridesharing service ready, or an alternative safe plan to get home safely.
  • Many law offices and other local businesses offer free ridesharing services for the evening. Take advantage of these offers.
  • If you are driving, be sure to take extra precautions with your vehicle and valuables. The holiday is notorious for grand theft auto and break-ins.
  • Even if you aren’t driving, be sure to avoid overindulging.
  • The holidays can be a difficult time for those who struggle with mental health. Always have a game plan to access mental health resources during New Year’s.
  • Finally, always be aware of your environment. Fireworks are a common practice for the holiday and may be a trigger for those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

New Year’s activities are great ways to celebrate another collective trip around the sun. Bring in 2024 the right way and have a great time no matter what you do, where you go, or who you’re spending time with. Read next: The X-37B Is Giving Us Something to Watch In 2024 and Beyond
