Is November Veterans Month?
Yes, November, which is already home to Veterans Day on the 11, is also National Veterans and Military Families Month. A proclamation on National Veterans and Military Families Month 2022 from the White House confirmed the notion. “This month, our Nation honors the strength and sacrifices of the families, caregivers, and survivors of our Veterans and our current service members. They may not wear uniforms, but their service is essential to our national security and the character of our Nation. We owe them a debt of gratitude that we can never fully repay,” said President Joe Biden in his official statement. The President then explained some of the things civilians don't have to deal with that we all take for granted, including the dishevelment that comes with military families having to move, the stress of deployment, and so on. He also praised Veterans for their commitment and bravery. “To be a Veteran or a service member is to have endured and survived challenges most Americans will never know. To be the family of one of those proud patriots is to sacrifice more for our country than most Americans will ever give,” Biden continued. The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) would also go on to acknowledge the importance of the month and the sacrifices these families endure. In its separate statement, the DoD also mentioned the strides being made through its Taking Care of Our Service Members and Families initiative for the long-term support of military families. November is National Veterans and Military Families Month, and that means many different things to many different people, including civilians who may be looking to support those who keep us all free, as well as their families who support them.
