The Veteran population is getting younger, and with this fact comes changes to the overall makeup of the Veteran demographic. One of these changes, according to Starbucks, is that more Vets are getting into “nontraditional” caffeine drinks, such as iced coffees. For years, Starbucks has offered Veterans, active-duty service members, and military spouses a free coffee of their choice. Now, they are expanding their freebie to include iced coffee! There’s more to know about Starbucks and Veterans Day, though. Keep reading to see how you can get your free coffee and what else Starbucks is doing to uphold its commitment to supporting Veterans. How To Get Your Starbucks Veterans Day Free Coffee

Looking for that elusive Starbucks free hot or iced coffee? Veterans Day is your chance! The offering is simple, too. All you need to do is visit your local Starbucks on November 11 and present a valid military ID. However, you need to order either in store or by drive-through. If you order via the Starbucks app, you won't be given a discount. The offer isn’t only extended to Veterans, however, as military spouses and active-duty service members can also get a free hot or iced coffee courtesy of the iconic coffee chain.

Is Starbucks Open on Veterans Day?

Yes! Most Starbucks locations will be operating within normal working hours on Veterans Day to provide our nation’s heroes with some free coffee all day long. Hours for your local chain may vary, but in general, you’ll find that most Starbucks hours are similar. Generally, Starbucks opens around 5:00 a.m., with some smaller city chains opening as late as 7:00 a.m. or even 9:00 a.m. The majority of Starbucks restaurants close between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Why You Should Visit Starbucks for Veterans Day

In a statement to TODAY Food, a Starbucks spokesperson said, “At Starbucks, we believe Veterans, service members, and military spouses make our company better and communities stronger… With Veterans Day around the corner, we wanted to share with you how Starbucks will continue to honor the military community on November 11 and beyond.” Though Starbucks has suffered from its fair share of bad optics over the last few years, they do put their money where their mouth is concerning their commitment to Veterans and Veteran causes. As in years past, Starbucks will be donating to Veteran-focused charities. In 2023, they’ll be donating $200,000 split between two Veteran non-profits: the Travis Manion Foundation and Team Red, White, & Blue. We’ll have to see if they can top that for Veterans Day 2024! It’s not only about the money for them, though. Each year for Veterans Day, the coffee giant has doubled down on its support of military members and pledged to hire Veterans and uplift them all year long. According to Starbucks, chains across the nation have hired more than 7,700 Veterans and military spouses. Starbucks also offers a College Achievement Plan that can help benefit military family members.
