WHY DOES CELEBRITY CHEF ANDRE RUSH DO 2,222 PUSH-UPS EVERY DAY?
Ever since Julia Child spread her love for French cuisine throughout America, the rise of the celebrity chef has become a staple in American pop culture. Many chefs are larger than life, but none of them take this to quite the level of Andre Rush. In 2018, White House Chef Andre Rush went viral due to his excellent physique after being photographed while preparing a meal for Ramadan. Now, he continues to use his fame to bring awareness to many interests and causes. Most notably, fitness and Veteran suicide. Suggested read:Jon Stewart Is Using His Voice for Veterans
Ex-White House Executive Chef Andre Rush Brings Awareness To Veteran Suicide
Chef Andre Rush is a big deal. No, really, the guy is huge. His tremendous commitment to fitness and bodybuilding has been well documented, and part of this journey includes his daily 2,222 push-ups. But there’s a sad, yet noble, reason for that particular number. Every day, 22 Veterans lose their lives to suicide, and Andre Rush completes these reps in their honor. "22 Vets commit suicide a day, unfortunately. But I also carry out that with the spouses, kids, and any cause or reason. Because now it's growing more. It's 36 to every 100,000, compared to a few years ago when it was 19 to 100,000. So it's a huge pandemic that we have to combat," said Chef Rush to Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria.
First-Hand Experience With a Difficult Transition
Andre Rush is no stranger to the military, nor is he ill-prepared when it comes to helping others transition to civilian life. Rush, too, found it difficult to adapt after spending decades in the Army and transitioning to civilian life from active duty. It’s clear to see that the philanthropic efforts Andre Rush participates in to give back to the military community are personal. Thankfully, by using his first-hand knowledge and resources, Chef Rush is helping others receive valuable resources that may just save their lives. "Combat is one of those words that they kind of associate with PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Well, the truth of the matter is that it's not only from that, it could be from growing up. It can be from your work habits. It can be from anything," said Rush. He then added, "I know from 9/11, being inside the Pentagon when a plane got here to Iraq, Afghanistan. We all cope differently. And so I get the weight where I have the reason to help people understand what's their reason behind and give them more of a reason to do what they're doing. To give back, help, and give them that spirit back in their lives."
The BourBiz Network
Celebrity Chef Andre Rush fights the growing Veteran suicide "pandemic" with the BourBiz Network, a network dedicated to providing Veterans with resources on combating PTSD. The World’s Strongest Chef works to provide strength to those who need it the most. Through BourBiz’s partnership with the non-profit organization Veteran Success Resource Group (VSRG), Vets can receive access to valuable resources for help in their lives, businesses, and educational pursuits. These are important resources for Veterans who can often feel lost while trying to find purpose and figure out the next steps of their lives. Providing Veterans with the tools and resources to gain meaningful employment or growth, hopefully, will improve their mental health and general situation.
How Old Is Andre Rush?
The exact age of Andre Rush is unknown, only adding to the myth that his celebrity continues to present. But all in all, Rush is speculated to be around 48 years old. 23 of those years were spent in the U.S. Army serving as both a cook and a trainer for hand-to-hand combat.
Is Chef Andre Rush Married?
The marital status of the retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant hasn’t been confirmed. While some speculate, it appears Chef Rush hasn’t been officially tied down to any particular partner through marriage officially. If you’re looking to shoot your shot, I suppose that’s what the IG DMs are for; just make sure to call him chef, d@mmit! But do so at your own risk. If Chef Andre Rush’s wife does exist, her wrath you will surely face. Regardless, the work that Chef Andre Rush has accomplished through his service in the military as well as honing his skills through the culinary arts are beyond admirable. His dedication to raising awareness for a cause affecting too many of our nation’s heroes only adds to his couth and legacy. Read next:Where Is the Army Wives Cast Now?
