During the first Trump administration, arguably no one was more loyal to the POTUS than Mark Meadows. A strongly conservative member of President Trump’s cabinet, Meadows would move from the House of Representatives into his role as Chief of Staff in 2020. However, questions about his service record remain. There are also questions about whether he will be a part of the next presidential cabinet, should Trump win in 2024. This is a closer look at Mark Meadows’s military service and stances that affect the military community.

Mark Meadows's Role in U.S. Military Service

Although he would be born a military brat, he did not serve in the American Armed Forces himself. Mark Meadows’s military service doesn’t exist. Meadows was born in a hospital at the Maginot Barracks, an Army installation located in Verdun, France. His father was there as a Soldier during the Cold War. However, despite his lack of military experience, Meadows would go on to stand for conservative policies, including strong support for the military community.

Meadows’s Political Career

Chosen to become the 29th White House Chief of Staff by President Donald Trump, Rep. Mark Meadows would become an important figure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Republican U.S. Representative for North Carolina was also a founder of the Freedom Caucus, a far-right portion of the House. Meadows would face charges due to his roles involving the overturning of the 2020 presidential election results, while also facing legal issues after being held in criminal contempt by Congress in relation to the January 6th investigation. While the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) did not to prosecute Meadows, he would be indicted in 2024 in Arizona, for attempting to reverse the results of the 2020 election in the Grand Canyon State.
