Charter Schools
Hawaii charter schools are state-funded public schools operating independently from the Hawaii Department of Education under contract with the State Public School Charter Commission. Charter schools are governed by their respective governing boards; the volunteer board is responsible to govern and facilitate the academic program and financial oversight of the school.
