When it comes to electronics, Best Buy reigns supreme in the American retail space. You can find everything from the latest video games and movies to state-of-the-art televisions and more. The Best Buy military discount is a great way to receive a ton of savings on your electronic purchases… or at least it should be. Learn more about what seems like a gigantic missed opportunity by Best Buy and what members of the military community can do to save on their purchases. Does Best Buy Offer Military Discount?

As it stands, there is no longer a Best Buy military discount available. This includes the Best Buy Veterans discount, as well. While some stores may still offer individual military discounts, the overarching company doesn’t provide these savings to the military community anymore. Best Buy discounts for Veterans may be provided on a case-by-case basis depending on the store you're visiting. Of course, this means you’ll have to visit a physical location while checking the availability of such discounts. This eliminates the possibility of a Best Buy online military discount, as well, because shoppers are dependent on the policies of individual stores rather than the corporation itself.

Does Best Buy Give Military Discount on Appliances?

No, there isn’t any discount on appliances because there is, sadly, no Best Buy military discount available for any purchases. To be fair, in terms of appliances, this is in line with many other major appliance retailers. The top three in the U.S. are Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Best Buy. While both Lowe’s and Home Depot offer discounts to the military community, they also both exclude applying the discount to major appliances as part of their individual terms and conditions.

A Missed Marketing Opportunity

There are over 18 million Veterans living in the United States today, as well as almost 1.2 million members in active duty. When you throw in the nearly 780,000 members of the reserves, you have around 20 million Americans in the military community. This extends even further when you consider their family members, only adding to a glaring missed opportunity by the electronics giant. Amazon almost killed Best Buy. Then, Best Buy did something completely brilliant to save itself from being yet another shuttered retail brand. A major part of this shift was to focus on its customers. But a segment being overlooked is those with military ties. It’s obvious that a military discount isn’t required of any company, but if the idea is to establish relationships with customers, this could be a misstep. A military discount from Best Buy could also be a great way to enhance the brand's already strong, yet comparatively lower, stance as a major appliance retailer. Bringing back their employee discount was a great boost for the brand, and bringing back the Best Buy military discount would also be a great look. Providing savings to active duty, reservists, and Veterans can be a win-win situation for all involved.

Alternatives for the Best Buy Offer Military Discount

It may not be exclusive to the military, but there are still ways to save when shopping at Best Buy. The employee discount is a great opportunity for those employed by the retailer, but for everyone else, joining the My Best Buy Program looks to be the best bet. Members can enjoy a variety of benefits and savings, including:

  • Members earn 1% back in rewards (0.5 points per $1 spent) when making an eligible purchase.
  • You’ll earn a $5 reward for every 250 points you earn, which can be used towards future Best Buy purchases.
  • Members can enjoy exclusive offers.
  • You’ll have a wish list with quick access to keep on hand for faster checkout and easy reference while shopping.
  • Members can track orders and monitor Curbside or Store Pickup timing with up-to-date shipping information.
  • Make repeat purchases faster with a quick reference of your previous purchases.
  • A consolidated look at your Best Buy Totaltech™ membership details, Geek Squad® protection plans, expiration dates, etc.
  • Easy access to consultations, help, and in-home installation resources.

As with anything, there are terms and conditions that are associated with Best Buy’s deals. These restrictions can be changed at the discretion of the company and restrict the ways in which members can use discounts and available items. The Best Buy military discount may not be available as it stands, but savings are savings. We’ll continue to be on the lookout for anything that benefits the military community, specifically, and update accordingly.
